My Top 5 Lipsticks For Valentine’s Day

My Top 5 Lipstick Picks for V-day!

Happy Valentine’s Day, everyone! Whether your day is spent in bed with comfy pjs watching Netflix, going out with that someone you love, hanging out with friends and family, or even just treating yourself, I hope that you have a great day. I personally will be having a spa night for myself after completing all the work I have to do for the day!

I’m back with a new post – this time, focused around the holiday! I’m going to be sharing with you five of my favorite lipsticks that I think would be perfect for whatever activity you’re doing today! (Yes, you could wear lipstick without having to do anything – whatever makes you happiest! No judgement here.😊) I have tried to include products with a variety of price points, as well as some of my favorite formulations! But, if you’re going to be kissing someone, I’d recommend the liquid lipsticks since you won’t transfer product onto your partner! Swatches for each product will be posted after each of the paragraphs describing them. I did not include actual swatches with the product on my lips, but if that’s something you’d like to see, please let me know in the comments! I would have no problem doing that if it is something you would like to see. Also, please excuse my nails! I didn’t realize how chipped they were until I took these pictures (Oops..).

#1) Dose of Colors Liquid Lipstick in shade Desert Suede ($18) –This is one of my most recent purchases, and I thought it would be crucial to throw a nude lip in this compilation. Liquid lipsticks are a bit tricky because you never know the formulation of the product until you test it out yourself. In particular, this is made my top five because once it sets down on my lips, it doesn’t dry them our or cause them to crack; this is crucial for me because I strongly dislike the feeling of having chapped lips. I have had bad experiences with other liquid lipsticks in the past, but this is comfortable to wear, whether it’s for an hour or five. I’d describe the color of this lipstick to be a grey-ish taupe. It is completely opaque in one swipe, which is perfect because you don’t need to sit there perfecting the look of it!

#2) Kat Von D Liquid Lipstick in shade Lovesick ($20) — This is by far my favorite liquid lipstick formulation. It dries down quickly and gives complete opacity in one swipe. It does not dry out my lips, it doesn’t sink into the fine lines, and stays on for so long. Sometimes I’m amazed by how long this will last. This is on the pricey side of the lipsticks I have included in this post, but if I had to tell you to pick one out of the bunch, it would be this one. You can find it in Sephora and the range of colors that is offered is amazing. When I put this on, I forget I’m wearing anything on my lips. It is seriously that good. For the color of this product, I’d say it’s a mauve nude with pink undertones. Also, these smell like cupcakes! Another bonus.

#3) ColourPop Lippie Stix in shade Poison ($5) — When this company first came onto the stage in 2014, I was all over these lippe stix since they were something I had never seen before in the beauty industry. They are super inexpensive, but the quality is top notch. They are extremely comfortable to wear because the lipstick is enriched with shea butter and Vitamin E. The color I have, Poison, is a deep, brick red. I typically do not wear “true” reds and this is the closest I’ll ever get to wearing one. It doesn’t wash you out, whether you’re tan or pale! A big bonus of this is that it makes your teeth look really white. For a normal lipstick, this formula stays on really well; however, with that being said, it is a normal lipstick and will smudge, need reapplication, and you will for sure not be able to eat food without it coming off. But, the price point is unbeatable for a lipstick!

#4) ColourPop Ultra Satin Lip in shade Wink ($6.50) — I really don’t think my swatching skills are up to par, yet. This swatched patchy on my hand, but that’s because it’s meant to be a liquid form of lipstick that doesn’t dry down. It’s a beautiful deep berry tone shade and promise me, when it’s on your lips, it looks so much better than what the picture portrays it as. Since this stays as though it is an actual lipstick, it does have the potential to smudge everywhere, so be cautious! The main reason I love this product is for the price and also because you can eat without having to reapply it constantly! It’s a great, long-wearing lipstick that I would repurchase over and over again.

#5) Ofra Cosmetics Liquid Lipstick in shade Hypno ($20) — Another great liquid lipstick that doesn’t dry out my lips! It glides on evenly and smoothly. It dries down pretty slowly, which is awesome because if I mess up, I have time to fix up the edges! Again, I need some practice when it comes to swatching, but it’s such a great staple color to have in your collection. I’d describe this as a mauve red, which is perfect for Valentine’s Day! The one thing you have to consider when you wear this is that you will have to reapply if you try to eat oily food. Other than that, I love this product because it doesn’t feel heavy or cakey once applied. Also, you can tell I really love this one since the printed logo on it is coming off!
